Eight-week Mindfulness Course
Who is this course for?
This course is for everyone who has attended an Introduction to Mindfulness workshop. We run open courses for professionals as well as in-house courses.
What does the course cover?
This course will to support you to:
- learn and apply mindfulness in work and in the rest of your life;
- respond more skilfully to situations, rather than reacting automatically, giving you more options and the ability to make better decisions;
- pay attention to what is happening here and now, rather than to what may or may not have happened in the past or fantasising about what may happen in the future; and
- feel more energised, fresh, engaged and motivated in life.
How is the course taught?
The course is experiential and interactive, with plenty of discussion, sharing of experiences and learning from each other. It emphasises personal development, not group therapy.
The skill of mindfulness is taught through formal and informal practices.
Formal mindfulness meditation practice includes anchoring your awareness of the present by following the path of your breath, using all of your senses and becoming more aware of your body through movement.
Informal mindfulness meditation practice involves integrating mindfulness into your everyday life – at home, at work, and in your leisure activities.
In each class, you will have an opportunity to talk about your experience of practising mindfulness techniques at home, the obstacles that inevitably arise, and how to deal with them skilfully.
Each class is centred on a theme that is explored through mindfulness practice, group discussion and other relevant exercises. You will meet together as a class with a teacher for eight weekly classes lasting between two and two and a half hours, plus an optional all-day session held between weeks 5 and 7.
The course includes a workbook, meditation CDs to help you practise between sessions, and email support during the eight weeks of the course and for four weeks after it ends. For full course details, please contact us.
